Mixing is the stage in production where all the recorded tracks/stems are combined by a Professional Audio Engineer.  At this stage, everything is critically balanced, edited, and may have a number of treatments applied, like equalization, stereo field adjustments, levels (active and passive), tuning, dynamics processing (Compressors, Gates, Expanders, etc.), time-based processing (Delay, Reverberation, Chorus effect, etc.), in order to create a pleasurable listening experience and help actualize and attain the project goals for the musicians.  After finishing this stage, the final mixed product is sent to the Mastering Engineer.

MASTERING:

Although the “dark art’ of mastering has changed over the past decades, it is the final, and quite critical stage for the project.  Mastering prepares the project for “release,” and also gives it competitive commercial loudness.  It also combines art and science to create a truly unique process, as every song is different and requires a different set of treatments to create a

stellar final product.

The Mastering engineer uses their trained ear from many years of critical listening and application of ear training skills, specialized equipment that is quite expensive and “boutique” at times, all in a proper acoustically treated room designed specifically for mastering.  This process reveals the most intimate details of the project, and allows the Mastering Engineer to polish the project for the best possible reception from the listener.

Although we recommend fixing issues in the mixing process, the Mastering process is the last stop-gap for catching issues such as phasing, de-essing, clicks and pops, equalization, musical colour, etc.  Since this is the last stage of the process, the ears of the Mastering Engineer can catch issues before distribution, and send it back to the mixing engineer to fix before moving on.

MUSIC PRODUCTION:

Call for a quote! Music production is the process of creating a recorded music project. A music producer usually handles music production, managing every aspect of the project. This can include being a critical part of the creative and aesthetic process, such as deciding what instruments are used and contributing to song arrangements, hiring musicians, writing lyrics, creating electronically produced musical parts, and even overseeing the budget.  No matter your needs in this area, we provide flexible solutions for your projects needs!
